Like a Circle in a Spiral...

...hmmm - one of my favourite songs!
Today I took this image in the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

It was one of those chance shots, where I held the camera out into the middle of the stairwell and shot looking up towards the dome in the ceiling. Only took 1 frame and then moved on to catch up with the rest of my group.

I didn't know what I had got until I got home and loaded it into my computer.

I like it!

Very nice (as always)! I haven't been to Emirates Palace yet, although I am in Abu Dhabi almost every weekend! I should really go check it out.

You really should do something with your excellent photos - they're all fantastic!
And windmills of my mind is one of my favs too - and you've inspired me to listen to it now!

thanks gang!

Dubai Sunshine - you should go see it - it's amazing!

Sharon Kidney-stone - I love the song - Sting does a good cover, as does Swing out Sister. And either of the 2 movie versions is great: The Thomas Crown Affair with: Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway OR Pierce Brosnan and Renee Russo.

(((dxb))) - thanks for the note re the copyright signature. I noticed that this morning, and have been trying to update the post all day, and Blogger.com has been on the blink.

I've only just managed to update it, and if you also click on the red Emirates Palace words, it'll take you to an earlier post that I wrote up about the hotel.

cheers

Thanks neglected-ism - we did have a great time. It was J's father's birthday, and we spoiled him to the point where he had tears in his eyes and was so happy!

That palace is a photographer's heaven - many great shots (like this one) are just waiting to be snapped..

I am shopping for a camera - any recommendations? :)

kj - thanks for visiting! The Geoloc website is only available in French, and at present they're not accepting any more subscriptions because they're overloaded! I'll let you know when the service again becomes available, and also give you instructions on how to negotiate through their website.

Kaya - I'm sorry! We had J's parents with us and it was her father's birthday, so it was his special day. I promise that the next time we head down to AD, I'll contact you first!

Moryarti - now that Mini Moryarti is on the scene, you need to start taking some serious pictures, huh?! :-)

It depends on what you're looking for - point&shoot, or 35mm with changeable lenses? Either way, stick with known brands - they may be more expensive, but they're more reliable and give a better image. Stick with Canon or Nikon is my experience. Email me if you want more details or further advice!

kj - here's another company that does a similar map.

ClustrMaps

But will still let you know when Geoloc starts accepting more users.

cheers

Everytime I see you post a new picture, the first thing I do is set it as my background on the computer. That way I can enjoy it every time I start up. :)

Thanks Kaya - that made my day!

We have a Cybershot T7 (nice and slim) for our everyday use. For more serious shots, I use the DSC-F828 (Sony as well); it gives me good quality snaps without too much fuss.

I spotted a Nikon with a friend of mine the other day and fell in love with it .. but i'm not sure which one to look for and i know they are quite pricey >:(

Beautiful indeed, like a parisian pastry...

moryarti - J has a Sony DSC-M1 which is also very nice - but not good in low light conditions.

Sony have just released some good looking cameras that look very much like the Canons - don't know what the quality is like.

Check out this website - it has everything that you need to know about cameras - DPReview.com

shaykspeara sha'ira - welcome to our blog, and thank goodness that it's not like a Danish pastry! :-)
